National Garden Bureau, the non-profit organization promoting gardening on behalf of the horticulture industry, now has materials supporting the three crops that will be featured in the 2015 “Year of the” program on the NGB website.

As always, one annual, one perennial and one edible that are easy to grow, genetically diverse with a lot of new varieties to choose from are selected for this program. Class selection is done by the National Garden Bureau Board of Directors and this program is for the benefit of anyone involved in the promotion of gardening or garden products.

For 2015, the three classes are: ColeusGaillardia, and Sweet Pepper.

Fact sheets and photos are available on the National Garden Bureau website; garden writers and bloggers are encouraged to use this information as a story starter or as an informational tool for your readers. Garden retailers are encouraged to use this information for seminars, product highlights, promotions, etc. Each fact sheet contains the history of that product class, a few variety mentions and basic growing information. In addition, NGB members have provided a wide variety of high quality photos that you can download for use in your publications, articles, blogs, newsletters, etc at no charge. Photos can be downloaded from the NGB website or from Flickr. The only restriction is that you credit National Garden Bureau as the source.

All publicity generated will be featured on the National Garden Bureau website in the “Press Room”.

For garden retailers, master gardeners, or educators, NGB has provided PDF’s of fact sheets, flyers, handouts, signage, etc. All of the above can be downloaded at no charge in order to help promote the crops to consumers and encourage gardening with these specific crop classes. From the bottom navigation bar on the NGB website under “Signs and Brochures” click on NGB “Year of the” Signs or NGB “Year of the” Flyers or NGB logos in the Category Filter. There is also a SlideShare presentation for each class downloadable at http://www.slideshare.net/nationalgardenbureau.
