How do you get rid of cutworms?

A good way (and environmentally friendly) way to get rid of cutworms is to use enthomopathogenic nematodes. These parasitic worms contain bacteria inside. When the nematode infects the cutworm, it releases the bacteria. The bacteria cause septicemia and kills the cutworm in 24-48 hours. The nematodes live in the dead cutworm for a while (until they have eaten it up) and then move on to the next victim and repeat the process.
The type of nematode that you would need would most likely be Steinernema carpocapsae or Steinernema feltiae. Both of these are sold through Becker Underwood or Gardens Alive.
